the blue pinafore ;

A spectrum of shades
Breaking the high tough canopy
Arching its curve through the story of life.

Blue,
For the expanse of Summer-intense skies
For the brilliance of Rain-pattering days.

My solid shade of blue
Controlling the myriad of rainbow umbrellas
Watching the girls grow with Christ.

Look out
For the Sun-drenched memories
For the blue pinafore.

Poetry is a nice idea. I really appreciate it.

hey, im back... so sorry i havent been to this blog for such a long time. I'm at camp ideapolis now, Vanessa and Ivan are here too. Well, i feel quite lightbulb :P. Anyway, the camp has been really badly managed so far, i cant believe NTU will organize such a badly planned competiton.

We had to do a business plan as well as a presentation. Almost everything about this camp has been screwed up so far. Considering just today, we were officially given only 2 hours 15 minutes to do the business plan. What a smart move, cos, while we good rule abiding teams were listening to stupid lectures, most of the teams ponned the lectures to do their business plan, naturally, they had a really good advantage.
Next, the planning time. Even when they know they most of the teams had already ponned the lectures, they still allowed the lectures to be so long, in fact, it caused the whole schedule to be pushed back by like 45 mins. So, wow, first, we thought that we should give the organizers face by attending the "compulsory" talks, then, when we attend it, they still make it worst by giving us less time to do our stuff. Wonderful eh? 1 hour 30 mins to do 1 1500 words proposal and 1 presentation.

Ok, enough of complains, this camp aint totally sucky, at least i got 1 free polo tee and 2 free lunch and dinners. And at least the group was fun.

This is zhong min reporting from Camp Ideopolis.

Hey guys, Bin here..I couldnt get to sleep (kena Zhong Yu's syndrome) haha..jus to express some opinions of the vs guys on the VS co-ed issue...hope s64-ians do not mind...anywae this blog is quite dusty. We are all victorians afterall.

Courtesy to wewillnotforget.blogspot.com. I really loved this post. =O

As a graduating batch of the school, we are usually thrilled to see our alma mater being mentioned in the papers, yet we read with disappointment and general disgust when we saw the article “Girls in Victoria School?” in The New Paper, Aug 17, 2005.

During the orientation programme in Sec 1; the principal promised us and our parents that Victoria School (VS) would never be a mixed school. That same principal has turned his back on 129 years of tradition in order to move the school up the ranking system into a higher band of little significance to what makes up a real education.

Like the MOE, we realize that education is more than the achievement of grades, or the number of people getting into the VIP (Victoria Integrated Programme). Victoria School has provided all its boys, with the development of robust character and a love for the school that very few schools can rival. I soar with pride whenever the roar of the “bumblebee” T-shirts at important events can be heard. This sense of camaraderie and belonging to the school can only be found in a single-sex school. And even then, some do not have it. We are even part of Singapore’s history, with the old Victoria School campus at Syed Alwi Road immortalized on the back of every two dollar bill.

It is not as simple as the principal puts it as “raising the quality” of the intake. There are other schools that take in a lower “quality” of students, and yet, are able to produce better students. Then again, there are affiliated schools that take in a significantly lower intake from its primary schools, and yet are able to deliver exceptional results. As Mr. Maran the discipline master used to say, “A school is only as good as its students”, it’s not about the gender of the student. It never is. It’s what we make of it and how far we want to push it on.

A school is more than a place of learning. It was a home to the thousands of Victorians that spent their 4 years there. It still is. Don’t throw what took so long to build, away on a mere ranking system that doesn’t even contribute to real education.

Victoria, Thy Sons Are We.

VICTORIA SCHOOL

Nil sine labore.
We felt but did not grasp
That truth, until the years.
The changing age confirmed severely:
Nothing without labour,
Nothing is for free.

You grew us well,
Mother of our youth,
Gave grave to toughness,
Tuned mind and feeling.
Our teachers scolded out of love.
We loved them with the fevour
That only mischief has.

We learnt quarrelled laughed,
Little enemies, great friends
In classroom lab assembly
Below the arches of the Hall.
Upon the tower built by Amin
Bock Hai and their scouting gang.

We shared ourselves, so
Found ourselves: Henry Aziz Boey
Soon Khiang Beng Keng Peter Poh
Guan Noordin Eric Heng Goe
Dhanabalan Teo Yong Chua Seng,
Among the intricacies of calculus,
Adverbial phrase, The Rover,
There was the steadying of the eye
As a though struck deep with beauty,
Or growing symmetry, sudden revelation
We did not feel the day go by

The faces appear each year
Along the corridors to labour, love,
Learn, They too will know
That here our better youth was spent,
That what we are was seeded then.

We do not return to you, mother,
Because we never really left.

Heyy, I had a hard time getting thru to write an entry. probably due to the gargantuan volume of cobweb spun on this blogsite. oh ''05s64 rawks forever!'' indeed, and the blogsite is hanging on the ''rawks'' now...so let me try to unhang it frm the rock.

Seem like no one has the mood to do any to blog ever since the boring tutorialpw era started. Well, I shall break away frm the crowd for once.=> Sounds like Steve Jobs rite. bleh.

Oh like what one of my fren said, never accept any work unnecessarily/ sign up for any useless course / commit yourself to anything next time. And this will be the first thing I would sae to my juniors who will be coming to VJ. Too much commitment given sooo little time. PW.yes PW. Once this irritating speck of virus is eliminated. My lung irritation( or rather Zhong Yu's earthshaking coughs) will recover. And for now let's hope God (if u think GOd exists which I wun sae so. nor would I deny that) would give us more time.

Oh VJ is introducing Subway as a pilot test project. Forgot to make any order today. Looks like I'll be eating that yongtaufoo stuff when the others are enjoying their Subway sandwiches tomorrow. Anyway, the sandwiches is not healthy! Leave them alone. I would gladly sacrifice myself to help you all finish them. Jus buy me a cup of iced milo to end my sufferings earlier. Heh.

Well, that's about it. 64-ers look forward to holidaes! And rmb to bring tie tmr or rather this whole week.So many photoshoots now and den. Nites everyone and sleep tight!

Bin.
